Ivybridge well represented in Devon team to face Royal Navy at Brickfields

IVYBRIDGE will be well represented when Devon host the Royal Navy at Brickfields on Wednesday night (7.30pm).

The Cross-in-Hand side will have four starters for the county team – full-back Charlie Briant, centre Lewis Paterson, scrum-half Ben Watts and prop Jon Morgan – and four players on the bench – Nathan Reeves, Tom Scoles, Dom Loomes and Jay Geraty.

Charlie Briant Ivybridge v BarnstapleDevon are using the game as preparation for this season’s County Championship, where they hope to win promotion back to the top tier after five years in the second division.

Newton Abbot and Barnstaple have not made their players available for Wednesday’s game with vital league matches on Saturday, while Exmouth, battling it out for the National Three South West title with Barnstaple, have only made a few available.

Former Plymouth Albion flanker Wayne Sprangle, who now plays for Tiverton, is in the starting line-up, while another former Albion forward Dan Williams is on the bench.

The Royal Navy are likely to include Plymouth players Jarrad Hayler and Seti Raumakita in their squad. Raumakita, though, faces an RFU hearing on Tuesday after being cited by Blackheath.

Admission into the game is £5 for adults with under-16s free in accompanied.
