PLYMOUTH Leander’s Olympic champion and world record holder Ruta Meilutyte will make her long-awaited comeback from injury this month when she competes at the Euro Meet in Luxembourg.
Lithuanian Meilutyte has been out of action since breaking her elbow in a cycling accident in September.
When she suffered the injury, the teenager had a plate inserted in her arm, but that was removed in December and she is now stepping up her training to try and retain the 100m breaststroke Olympic crown she won as a 15-year-old in London.
Meilutyte’s Leander team-mate Ben Proud, who is hoping to make his Olympic debut for Great Britain this summer, will also compete in Luxembourg at the Euro Meet, which takes place between January 29-31.
