City pentathletes kick-off 2016 in style at national ranking event

Myles Pillage and Kerenza Bryson Youth A European Pentathlon ChampionshipsPLYMOUTH modern pentathletes Myles Pillage and Kerenza Bryson made impressive starts to 2016 at the weekend.

Competing at the opening national ranking event of the year on Sunday, Pillage won the under-19 boys’ category and Bryson took second in the girls’ competition.

Pillage led throughout the competition, having set the pace with a storming swim of 1:59.51. He finished with a score of 1143 to hold off the challenge of Harry Sykes.

The under-19 girls’ event was much closer with just 51 points separating the top three. Bryson, who finished 11th at last year’s World Youth A Championship in Argentina, took second with 1013 points behind Olivia Green with 1051.  Bryson impressed in the fencing and combined event but lost ground in the swim.
