MOUNT Kelly Swimming and Plymouth Leander both claimed a gold medal on the second day of the ASA National Championships in Sheffield.
Mount Kelly’s success came in the 16/17-year-old girls’ 100m backstroke event, where Emily Cutler triumphed in a time of 1:04.08. Her team-mate Toby Stranyer also won bronze in the 16/17-year-old boys’ 200m backstroke in 2:08.74.
Leander’s gold, which followed seven medals on the opening day at Ponds Forge, came in the 15-year-old boys’ 200m backstroke courtesy of Harry Middleton, who touched in a time of 2:12.99, which was nearly two seconds ahead of his rivals.
