Plymouth Argyle boss Adams is looking forward to first home game

HomePark1.jpgMANAGER Derek Adams and most of his summer signings will get their first taste of Home Park this afternoon when Plymouth Argyle entertain Reading Under-21s in a pre-season fixture (3pm).

Argyle have so far played three warm-up matches against Elburton Villa, Bideford and Bath City, but they have all been away.

Jake Jervis, Graham Carey, Gregg Wylde, Josh Simpson and Hiram Boateng are all expected to get their first run outs in a green shirt at Home Park today.

Adams, who took over as Argyle manager from John Sheridan in the summer, felt it was important to have a home fixture before the League Two season kicks off.

He said: “We are getting a home fixture before the start of the season for my new players to get to know the surroundings, and the fans obviously get to see a game at home and see many of the new players.

“It’s always nice to get to know the dimensions of the pitch. The pitches are always different anywhere you go – even the length of grass.

“All these kind of things that you have to adjust to, so it will be good for them to get that. They have all played a lot of minutes since they’ve come in.”
