PLYMOUTH athlete David King produced a solid display in shocking conditions on his IAAF Diamond League debut at the London Anniversary Games.

The 21-year-old, running in the inside lane, finished seventh out of eight international runners in his televised heat at the Olympic Stadium.

King, who received a late call-up to the race, clocked 13.88 seconds to finish ahead of Australian Nick Hough in a torrential downpour.

The heat was won by American former world champion and Olympic silver medallist Jason Richardson in 13.30 seconds, with King’s Great Britain rival David Omoregie setting a new PB of 13.50 seconds to finish third ahead of three Americans.
