PLYMOUTH Diving’s Rhea Gayle has qualified for the final of the women’s three-metre springboard event at the World University Games in South Korea.
The University of St Mark and St John student had what she described as ‘a rocky prelim’ and only just made the semis by finishing in 18th spot with 239.40 points.
However in the semi-finals, Gayle upped her performance and scored 256.10 points which qualified her in eighth spot for Wednesday’s final in Gwangju.
She was the top European diver in the semis, which were won by China’s Shuangxue Zheng with 318.55, ahead of her team-mate Tian Liu, who was the only other diver to top 300 points.
