Plymouth triathlete Holder finishes 10th at World Championships

w-4P8w-1PLYMOUTH’S Ken Holder finished 10th in his age category at the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championship in Sweden.

The event took place in Motala and attracted a bumper entry of the world’s best triathletes.

Plymouth Triathlon Club member Holder, competing for Great Britain in the 45-49 age group, finished in a time of five hours and 55.25 minutes.

He clocked 23.20 minutes for the swim and was ranked 12th at that point.

Holder quickly made up ground on the 120km bike ride. After the first lap he was up to 5th but eventually went into the 30km run in ninth spot. He completed the run in 2:20.57.

Afterwards he tweeted: “I’m gob smacked, what an amazing experience.”
