TAMAR Trotters’ George Prewett stormed to victory in the Saltash Half Marathon.
Prewett finished nearly two minutes in front of second-placed athlete Nick Loewendahl.
Triathlete Prewett clocked 1:19.20, with Loewendahl coming home in 1:21.12.
Plymouth Harriers’ Tom Humphrey was third in 1:21.31, with Prewett’s Tamar Trotters’ team-mates Peter Waumsley (1:21.47) and Simon Yeo (1:22.55) fourth and fifth.
There was a close race in the women’s race, with Sarah Hirons (1:34.58) edging out Tamar Trotters’ Rebecca Ezra (1:35.08) by just 10 seconds. Launceston’s Jeanette Johnson (1:36.17) third female home.
Meanwhile, Tavistock athlete Neil Barkell won the Bere Pen 10k.
Barkell clocked 36.25 for the ‘three miles down, three mile up’ course starting from Bere Alston School.
Veteran Hamish Gallagher was second athlete home in 37.49, with home athlete Ben Neale third in 38.28.
Plymouth Harriers pair of David Knight (38.30) and David Beckenkrager (38.47) fourth and fifth.
Their team-mate Jane Allison was first women home in 43.57, finishing just ahead of Bere Alston’s Rebecca Mingo (44.44).
