CITY of Plymouth’s Poppy Tank has been named in Great Britain’s squad for next month’s World Cross Country Championships in Tellahasse, Florida.
Tank is selected for a four-strong senior women’s team, alongside Megan Keith, Phoebe Anderson and Verity Ockenden.
Those were GB’s top four senior women at last weekend’s European Cross Country Championships in Portugal as they claimed a team silver medal.
Tank has been in good form this winter and finished as runner-up at the British European trials in Liverpool in November.
GB are just taking four representatives in each category to the USA for the World Championships, which will be held on January 10.
Team leader Luke Gunn said: “We’ve selected a team that reflects our commitment to success — aiming to make the podium at this event and giving talented juniors the chance to gain invaluable experience as they build towards future cross country success.
“We look forward to seeing how they perform against the world’s best in what will be a fast and fun course out in Florida.”
Tank competed at the 2023 World Cross Country Championships in Australia where she finished 36th.
