DARTMOOR Velo’s Samuel Medland is celebrating after achieving his first major national medal.

The 13-year-old from Tavistock took second place in the juvenile boys’ category in the short track event at the UK National MTB XC Championships at Woody’s Bike Park in Cornwall.

His podium placing came in his first season of racing at national level.

Also medalling at the event in Cornwall was his Dartmoor Velo team-mate Aoife Scawn, who competed in the youth female category.
