The event, known as The Squirrel, is part of the Cornish Triathlon Series and offered Olympic, sprint, super sprint and junior races.
Michael Buckley took overall victory in the Olympic Squirrel race for the second year running.
Despite the energy-sapping conditions, the veteran athlete finished in a time of two hours, six minutes and six seconds. The Olympic Squirrel involved an 800m pool swim, a 36k bike ride and a 10k run.
Second place went to fellow veteran Nick Loewendahl, who clocked 2:10.08, while Bideford’s Joe Davies was third in 2:10.21.
Katie Chambers was first woman home in the Olympic standard event in a time of 2:28.57. Second place went to last year’s winner Lucy Wyatt, who clocked 2:37.59 and was first female vet, while Pandora Stone was third woman in 2:40.29.
For the second year running, John Steadman won the sprint race (Big Squirrel), having won the Olympic distance in 2023. The veteran athlete clocked 1:08.17 to hold off the challenge of Ollie Beilby, who finished in 1:10.01. Plymouth Triathlon Club’s Marcus Wills was third in 1:13.58.
Vintage athlete Ana-Maria Burgoyne was first woman home in the Big Squirrel, clocking a time of 1:28.26. Gem Gallant was second and super vet Mandy Chapman was third.
Victor Malm won the ‘Little Squirrel’ super sprint distance in a time of 47.13 minutes, with veteran Oliver North second.
Helen Hughes, a super vet, came third overall and first woman in 58.11. Fourth and second female was Alison Cooks, with Plymouth Tri Club’s Isabel Barden third woman.
There were also junior races on Sunday.
Tavistock AC athlete Eldon Young took victory in the 15-16 boys’ event, with Sophie James first female.
The 13-14 age group titles were won by JJ Wells and Aria Griffiths.
Tavistock AC’s Olivia Walkerdine was first overall in the 11-12 year category, with Seb Byfield second and first boy.
Aemilia Tilly was also first overall in the 9-10 years’ event, which again was dominated by girls. Finnegan Lever was first boy, while Leo Merrikin and Poppy Davies won the eight-year-old age category.
