CITY of Plymouth youngster Alison Oldfield and Tavistock AC’s Phoebe Milburn broke new records at the latest round of the South West League on Sunday at Exeter.

Oldfield smashed the under-13 girls’ 100m league best, clocking a wind-assisted 12.85 seconds. It was the first time she had broken the 13-second barrier.

Milburn, meanwhile, broke her own under-20 and senior women’s hammer record with a throw of 48.19m, just days ahead of the English Schools’ Championship in Birmingham.

City of Plymouth athlete Jacob Lamboll, better known for his 400m running, broke 11 seconds for the first time in the 100m.

The Cardiff Met University student finished second behind international decathlete Jack Turner in 10.97 seconds. Lamboll did win the men’s 200m in 22.01 seconds.

Plymouth hurdler Adam Dingley, another athlete preparing for the English Schools’ Championships, was fourth overall and second under-20 in the 100m in 11.25 seconds.

Tavistock’s Joe Wake won the under-17 200m in 23.61 seconds and came second in the 100m in a wind-assisted 11.39 seconds.

City of Plymouth youngster Harvey Slade enjoyed a good day. He won the under-13 200m in a PB time of 26.85 seconds and was also quickest in the 100m, with a wind-assisted 13.19 seconds.

Tavistock athlete Jade Kinsey ran a 200m PB of 25.95 seconds to take second in the senior women’s event, while Plymouth’s Anya Findlay came second in the under-13 200m in 28.90 seconds.

Elsie Goodspeed, another athlete preparing for this weekend’s English Schools’ Championship, won the under-15 girls’ 800m on Sunday in a time of 2:19.31.

In the under-15 boys’ 800m, Tavistock’s Thomas Hennessey finished second in 2:09.51, while City of Plymouth’s Finley Bennett came third in the under-17 800m in 2:09.92.

Bennett did win the under-17 400m hurdles in 65.52 seconds and fellow Armada team athlete Lewis Cotterill took victory in the men’s 400m hurdles in 59.66 seconds.

Hanna Ulvede took full points in the women’s 400m hurdles, while there was also a victory for Tavistock’s Katelyn Milburn in the women’s triple jump with a 10.55m leap.

Isabelle Doney took second place in the under-17 discus, while Charlotte Doney, who will compete for Cornwall in the English Schools’ Championship, was third in the under-17 shot with 9.15m.

There was a second place for Robyn Summers in the under-17 300m hurdles and a third place for Hayley Smith in the senior women’s 800m.
