Tavistock Run Project’s M40 athlete Cole took victory by 18 seconds, finishing in a time of 46 minutes and 53 seconds for the tough six-mile plus run that takes athletes out of Meavy Village to Burrator Reservoir and then straight up the summit of Sheeps Tor and Gutter Tor before returning to the start.
Second place went to Hillsborough & Rivelin’s Joseph Harding in 47.11 minutes, with Ben Smith third in 47.33 minutes.
Tavistock AC’s Smith won the women’s race by eight seconds. She came home in a winning time of 55.48 minutes, with under-21 runner Isabella Page taking second in 55.57.
Okehampton’s Claire Watkins was third woman home and first F50, with Erme Valley’s Sophie Gilvear fourth and second U21, with Heidi Campbell fifth.
There was a good race between Peter Merrick and Stuart Hall to finish as first M60, with Merrick just edging out former Commonwealth marathon runner Hall.
Before the main race, there were junior races at Marchants Cross.
Tavistock AC’s George Lake and Serena Bigham won the under-11 races, with City of Plymouth’s Sebby Travers and Tavistock AC’s Olivia Walkerdine triumphing in the under-13 category and Harry Parker and Okehampton’s Ellenor Taylor winning the under-15 age group titles.
