MARINE Academy Plymouth and SB Oak Villa both claimed league titles on Sunday.
Marine Academy’s came without actually playing as their South West Premier Division title rivals Torquay United lost 1-0 away at third-placed Sherborne Town.
Torquay had to win to overtake long-time leaders Marine Academy, who finished their season on May 4.
Marine Academy will now be promoted to the FA Women’s National League South West Division – the fourth tier of English football. They will be just one league below city rivals Plymouth Argyle.
Meanwhile, SB Oak Villa were crowned champions of the Devon Women’s League South & West Division after beating third-placed Elm United 4-2 at Tor Bridge High.
Horrabridge Rangers had led for most of the season, but they slipped up the other week and SB Oak Villa finished the campaign incredibly strongly, winning their final 13 games.
Oak Villa had won the league title last season but completely had to rebuild their side after nearly all the squad moved on.
They were struggling for players at the start of the campaign and only won two of their opening five fixtures, but they were able to bring in a host of newly-turned 16-year-olds over the winter months and went unbeaten from the end of February with a youthful side.
Their goals on Sunday against Elm United came from Mia Dulling (2), Saskia Brisley and Natalie Shekhdar.
Having had one goal disallowed in the opening two minutes, they took a 2-0 lead after 39 minutes.
But Elm United stunned them by scoring two goals in two minutes to pull level.
Maisie Lovell scored a great volley from a Crystal Pollock corner to get Elm back into it before almost from the re-start Pollock netted to level the contest.
However, crucially Oak Villa scored in first-half injury-time to go in at the break 3-2 up before they bagged a fourth midway through the second period.
Oak Villa had beaten Lakeside Athletic 5-1 in midweek with goals from Dulling (2), Amy Pridham, Holly Bennett and Shekhdar.
Horrabridge, who will finish as runners-up for the second year running, will conclude their season on Tuesday against Elm.
Rangers did put the pressure on Oak Villa by beating neighbours Tavistock 8-0 in mid-week, but the young Weston Mill side managed to get the job done on Sunday.
