Plymouth Diving’s Underwood stars as the Life Centre hosts the Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships

PLYMOUTH Diving’s Amelie Underwood starred as the Plymouth Life Centre once again held the Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships.

The junior international won two individual national titles in the oldest age group and also bagged a synchro silver medal during the four-day event.

Club colleague Harry Westbury also won a title and claimed another podium place, while there were also medals for Scarlett Colbourne, Isla Applin, Archie Waines and Oliver Heath in what was a successful event for Plymouth Diving.

Underwood claimed both the girls’ A springboard crowns.

She won the one-metre event by nearly 20 points, ahead of Australian guest Keira Wang.

In the three-metre competition, her biggest challenge came from her team-mate Colbourne. Just three points separated the two Plymouth divers, with Underwood taking gold with 401.30 points and Colbourne bagging the silver medal with 398.30 points.

Underwood also teamed up with Dive London’s Caitlyn Coster in the girls’ 14-18 years’ three-metre synchro event where they took second place, with Plymouth Diving’s Colbourne and Lexi Davies fourth.

Harry Westbury’s title came in the boys’ C one-metre event, while he also took bronze in the three-metre competition.

Applin enjoyed a good competition by winning bronze in the girls’ C three-metre event and in the girls’ 9-13 years’ three-metre synchro final with Southampton’s Ella Swete. Applin also came fourth in the girls’ C individual three-metre final.

Heath and Waines teamed up together to win silver in the boys’ 14-18 years’ three-metre synchro competition.

Junior international Heath, who has been named on Aquatic GB’s podium potential programme for 2025, just missed out on an individual medal in the boys’ A one-metre event by just 0.1 of a point. He had to settle for fourth in that event and came sixth in the boys’ A three-metre competition.

Waines also made the boys’ A one-metre final, finishing seventh.

This year’s Aquatics GB Elite Junior Diving Championships not only attracted the top British young talent, but also guest divers from Australia, Italy, Greece and New Zealand.
