CITY of Plymouth high jumper Ethan Glyde made a winning start to his American collegiate career.
Commonwealth Youth Games champion Glyde, who has moved to Iowa University, took victory at the indoor Jimmy Grant Invite meet with a leap of 2.10m.
That equalled the meeting record and was 10cm higher than anyone else jumped on the day.
He cleared all his efforts on the first attempt until endeavouring to equal his PB of 2.15m.
The teenager has settled in well at the university, who offered him a 100 per cent scholarship and a kit deal.
Meanwhile, Plymstock Road Runners’ Carla Tunnicliffe enjoyed an impressive run at the off-road Extremely Jolly 10k.
Tunnicliffe came second overall and first woman in a time of 45.30 minutes. She was only beaten by Ilfracombe’s Tom Capron.
