PLYMOUTH Corinthian, Dartmoor Velo and Tavistock Wheelers enjoyed success at the final meeting of the South West Cyclo-Cross League at Newnham Park on Sunday.
Despite Storm Darragh the event in the bottom part of the Plympton estate went ahead, albeit with a slight change of course to avoid the wooded area.
Dartmoor Velo were the host club, and they pulled out all the stops to make sure the meeting successfully proceeded.
They were rewarded with success in the junior races, with Freddie Day, Aoife Scawn, Charlie Day, Bryony Medland and Rosie Eastmond all claiming victories.
Freddie Day won the under-16 boys’ race. He finished eight seconds ahead of Wheal Velocity’s Oliver Riches.
Scawn was first under-16 girl, while Charlie Day was first under-12 boy and Medland was the under-12 girls’ winner and came third overall.

Tavistock’s Lara Dix, competing for Mid-Devon, was dominant in the joint junior and senior women’s race. She is still a junior but comfortably finished above all the other female riders.
Plymouth Corinthian’s Tracey Corcoran was second female overall and first F40, with Lisa Martin first F50.
