GALLERY: Perry and Meek claim victories at tough Ivybridge Three Tops fell race

TOM PERRY and Jo Meek claimed victories at the tough Ivybridge Three Tops fell race on Wednesday evening.

The event, which is part of the Dartmoor Fell Series and organised by Erme Valley Harriers, starts with athletes running up Western Beacon, which towers above Ivybridge, before then heading up to Weatherdon and Glasscombe Ball and then up Ugborough Beacon before heading back to Ivybridge Rugby Club. The approximately 10k run also includes a couple of stream crossings.

Former Exeter athlete Perry, who now competes for Sheffield-based clubs Hallamshire and Dark Peak Fell Runners, claimed victory by eight seconds with a 45.40-minute run.

Second place went to Exeter Harriers’ Stephen Hughes, with M50 veteran Ceri Rees third in 45.57.

Erme Valley Harriers youngster Luke Hayes was fourth overall and first under-17 in 49.00 minutes, with Oliver Mitchell fifth in 49.07.

Meek, who holds the women’s course record having won the event in 2022, claimed another dominant victory.

She finished in 53.44 minutes, with South West Road Runners’ Fiona German taking second in 54.38 minutes.

Erme Valley Harriers’ Faith Taylor-Tippett was third woman in 55.47, with Clare Murray fourth and Tavistock teenager Charlotte Walker fifth.

Host club Erme Valley enjoyed plenty of success in the junior races.

William Rogers and Bluebell McBridge won the under-11 titles, while team-mate Thomas Carter was first under-15 boy and Harriet Rogers was first under-13 girl.

Tavistock AC’s Jack Anthony was first under-13 boy, while club colleague Grace Gokhole won the under-15 girls’ event.
