GALLERY: Wraight holds off Attwood and Milward to retain the Cornwood 10k title

THOMAS WRAIGHT retained his Cornwood 10k title on Saturday evening.

Wraight won the popular race for the first time last year in torrential rain.

The weather was far nicer this time around and he claimed a more convincing victory, winning by 18 seconds with a 36.48 minute run.

Second place in the tough event that takes athletes around the villages of Cornwood and Lutton went to Tamar Trotters’ Luke Attwood, who clocked 37.06 minutes, with Erme Valley Harriers teenager Charlie Milward finishing third in 38.38 minutes.

Torbay Tri Club’s Naomi Flanagan broke her own course record to win the women’s race in 39.16 minutes, with Louise Flynn (39.33 minutes) second for the second year running and Freya Porter (43.01) third again like in 2023.

Plymstock Road Runners’ Graham Bale (39.21) won the male veterans title for a second successive year, while Erme Valley Harriers’ Emma Lake was first female veteran.

Erme Valley Harriers claimed the men’s top team prize, while Plymouth Musketeers won the women’s team award. An good turnout of 232 runners completed the multi-terrain run.

Meanwhile City of Plymouth AC’s Jack Penney won the 4k fun run, with George Costiff second and Freddie Joynes third.
