PLYMOUTH pentathletes Kerenza Bryson and Myles Pillage will both make their Olympic Games debut this summer.
The pair will join reigning Olympic champions Joe Choong and Kate French in the Team GB squad for Paris.
Bryson has been in stunning form over the last 18 months, winning a number of World Cup medals and claiming a bronze at last year’s World Championships in Bath.
Pillage, meanwhile, recently came 10th at the 2024 World Championships in China.
He and Bryson have both also won European medals, including together in the mixed relay in 2019.
Bryson, a medical graduate from the University of Plymouth and army reservist, said: “This is an absolute dream come true. Ten-year-old Kay would be so proud. I’m incredibly excited about competing in Paris and giving it my best shot with all my friends and family watching!
“Everything is now focused on making those marginal gains in the last few weeks of preparation.”
Pillage added: “It’s what every young athlete wants, to represent their country at an Olympic Games and something I have worked extremely hard for.
“I feel privileged to be a part of such an incredible team GB squad and I can’t wait to do myself and my team proud out in Paris.”
Team GB Chef de Mission Mark England OBE said: “We are very proud to welcome back defending Olympic champions Joe and Kate to Team GB for Paris 2024. Their exceptional performances at Tokyo 2020 were wonderful to watch during what was a record-breaking Games for the modern pentathlon team. Alongside Myles and Kerenza, who both will make their Olympic debuts this summer for Team GB, we are excited at what awaits this extremely talented team in Paris.”
The modern pentathlon competition will take place between Thursday, August 8 and Sunday, August 11 . The fencing ranking rounds will be at the North Paris Arena on August 8, with the remainder of the competition taking place at the Château de Versailles on the following days.
