Plymouth’s King warms up for World Championships with season’s best run in Berlin

PLYMOUTH hurdler David King warmed up for the forthcoming World Indoor Championships by running a season’s best time to take second place at the ISTAF meeting in Berlin on Friday night.

King clocked 7.59 seconds for the 60m hurdles, which was the third fastest time of his career and only 0.02 of a second off his PB set two years ago when he reached the World Championships final.

He was only beaten in Germany by American Daniel Roberts, who took victory in 7.52 seconds.

Olympian King said after Friday’s race that he felt like ‘this one had been coming’ and that he was now ‘ready for a home World Championships’.

The World Indoor Championships will be held in Glasgow between March 1 and March 3.

King is one of just 26 athletes named in the Great Britain team for the event – and one of only seven men.
