Plymouth diver McCabe named in GB squad for European Junior Championships

PLYMOUTH diver Euan McCabe has been named in Great Britain’s squad for this summer’s European Junior Championships in Bucharest.

McCabe is one of 17 divers British Swimming will be sending to the championships in July.

The Plymouth youngster is no stranger to international competition and has returned with medals from the last two European Junior Championships.

The championships will take place at the Otopeni Olympic Swimming Complex in Romania between July 18-24.

GB team manager Julian Bellan said: “We are really excited by the team we have been able to pick for the European Juniors, on the back of another impressive showing from our young divers in Southend, at the Elite Junior Diving Championships.

“European Juniors always provide priceless experience for the next generation against international divers. The 2021 team produced some memorable medal moments, and with this team blending previous European experience with those new to this competition, we are hopeful of more success and plenty of learnings in Bucharest.

“Many of the team are also competing at the upcoming Futures Cup, as well as the British Championships in Sheffield, and it is fantastic that so many chances to compete and refine their dives are now available for our young athletes.”
