Battershill, who has represented Great Britain at under-20 and under-18 level, has been named in England’s squad for the Manchester International on Wednesday, August 18.
The Harvard graduate’s opportunity comes after winning the England Athletics Championship steeplechase title and finishing fifth in a PB time at the British Championships.
The England team, selected with an eye on next year’s Commonwealth Games, will take on Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland as well as the National Athletics League and Great Britain & Northern Ireland U20s.
Three-time Olympic medallist Kelly Sotherton is overseeing the national senior squad in her role as team leader for England’s track and field athletes at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
She said: “I am really looking forward to watching the competition at the Manchester International and leading the team. We’ll be at full-strength and there will be some great athletics to watch at this time of the year, straight after the Olympics has passed.
“We are less than a year to go now until Birmingham 2022 and as a team of staff our preparations continue for what’s going to be a really exciting and busy period leading up to next summer’s Commonwealth Games.”
