PLYMSTOCK Road Runners’ Graham Bale was third overall and first over-50 in the Oh My Obelisk off-road half marathon at the weekend.
Bale clocked 1:31.30 in muddy conditions to finish just behind Edward Mole and Haldon Trail’s Daniel Mitchell in the event organised by Dawlish Coasters.
In the women’s race, Tavistock’s Jo Meek was second overall and first over-40 in 1:35.14. Haldon’s Elizabeth Dyson was first women home, with Plymstock Road Runners’ Carla Haines fourth.
There was a shorter nine mile Oh My Obelisk run, which saw Tavistock’s Jenny Bryant finish as second women in 1:20.40 and Plymstock’s Brigitte Taverna take third place in 1:25.10.
Meanwhile, Plymouth Musketeers’ Scott Mansfield claimed second place in the Plympton January Jaunt 10k on Sunday. The race was comfortably won by Torbay’s over-55 veteran Peter Monaghan (35.33), but Mansfield (37.33) managed to hold off Tamar Trotters’ James Blight, who was third (37.59).
Tamar Trotters’ Bex Ezra won the women’s race by nearly six minutes. She clocked 39.32 minutes, with Looe’s over-40 athlete Mandy Gibson taking second spot in 45.11 minutes and Tavistock’s Helen Orme claiming third in 45.53.
Some 272 runners finished the 10k that started and finished at Marsh Mills. Full results can be found HERE.
