BILLIARDS: Brookshaw in top form as Keyham maintain their six-point lead at the top

LEAGUE leaders Keyham Cons maintain their six-point advantage over Saltash Social Club with three weeks remaining in the Plymouth Billiard League’s Roger Ayers Memorial competition.

Both of last week’s matches ended in a 2-2 scoreline. In-form player-of-the-week was Keyham’s Steve Brookshaw, who knocked in a break of 62 and then ran to game with 116 in his side’s clash with Elburton A.

Meanwhile, across the Tamar, Barry Russell fell just short of three figures, compiling a 99 break as Saltash entertained Elburton B.  John Wilde picked up his second win of the year for Elburton B, while Jeff Fox picked up the other point.

Brookshaw, Russell and Elburton Club’s Chris Coumbe will be travelling to Scotland at the end of the month for the Scottish Open, which is the first world ranking event of the year.

The event takes place in Kirkcaldy on January 25-26. Brookshaw and Coumbe were narrowly eliminated in the last 24 knockout round last year.
