Woodlands Park Primary School quartet do themselves proud at national finals in Sheffield

FOUR girls from Woodlands Park Primary School in Ivybridge competed at the ESSA National Primary Schools’ Relay Championships in Sheffield at the weekend.

The quartet had fought off stiff competition in the qualifying round at Millfield School earlier in the year to book a spot as the fastest team in the South West for both the open medley and freestyle relays.

There was tough competition for them in Sheffield but they managed to come through the heats and qualify for the B final in both events.

They finished 13th overall in the medley relay and 15th in the country in the freestyle relay.

They were one of a very few state schools to reach the national finals.

Their team was made up of Holly Haymes, Madeleine Jones, Lillie Wood and Isabella Duncan.
