Plymouth Leander look to defend their National Arena Swimming League Cup title

PLYMOUTH Leander will be looking for more success on Sunday when they head to Cardiff for the 50th anniversary of the National Arena Swimming League Cup Final.

Leander are the competition holders and they be hoping their 45 swimmers, aged from 11 years-old to seniors, can help them defend their title in the Welsh capital.

The city club, who won the Western Premier League in November to book their place in the final, will face tough competition from a strong Guildford City side, who won the Southern Premier League, as well as Wycombe District, City of Cardiff, City of Oxford, Hatfield, Millfield, Stockport Metro, Northampton and City of Derby.

Leander’s head coach Robin Armayan said: “We are all really looking forward to competing once again in the National Arena League final.

“It is a fun event where all our selected athletes come as one to represent PL and be part of a talented team to compete against the best clubs in the UK.

“We should see some very tough races and some very interesting situations where the swimmers will have to push beyond their limits to perform on the day.”
