YOUNGSTERS Sam Yearling and Molly Shorey once again led the way at the Armada Winter 3k Series.
The duo had finished first male and female in November’s run around Central Park and they repeated that feat in Wednesday’s Christmas-themed December edition.
Plymouth Harriers’ Yearling was first overall in 10.06 minutes, which was 17 seconds faster than he had run for the same course four weeks earlier.
Another junior athlete, Tavistock’s Tom Brew came second in 10.11 minutes, with Joe Beaton third in 10.23 and another teenager Oliver Woodmason of City of Plymouth fourth in 10.24. Following him were the more experienced Alex Peyton-Jones of Plymouth Harriers (10.27) and Plymstock’s Graham Bale (10.39).
City of Plymouth’s under-13 athlete Shorey showed her potential by once again finishing as first female in a strong field. She clocked 11.21 minutes, which was eight seconds faster than she had run last month.
Second female was Tavistock’s Sam Lake in 11.31 minutes, with junior club colleagues Natasha Farrington (11.42) and Emma Ryder (11.55) third and fourth, respectively, and Plymouth Harriers’ Jane Allison fifth.
The next Winter 3k Series run will take place on Wednesday, January 9, at Central Park.
