POPPY TANK’S place in the Great Britain squad for next month’s European Cross Country Championships in The Netherlands has officially been confirmed.
The City of Plymouth athlete earned her selection by finishing second under-23 athlete home in last weekend’s trials at Liverpool.
The top four were guaranteed spots, if they wished to take them up, with the other two places decided at a selection meeting on Tuesday.
Tank will be making her international debut at the event in Tilburg on Sunday, 9 December and will feature in a 40-strong GB squad.
Cornwall AC’s Grace Brock, who has been a regular competitor on the Westward Cross Country League circuit, is named in the junior women’s under-20 team.
The British team has enjoyed a rich vein of success at these championships, having topped the medal table in 11 of the previous 12 championships.
Team leader, Rob Denmark, said: “Following on from such competitive trials at the weekend in Liverpool, we are able to select an incredibly strong team to travel out to Tilburg.
“We have been fortunate enough to enjoy a great deal of success at these championships in recent years and I’m hoping that this year we will continue to challenge for individual and team medals.”
