Mount Kelly and Dartmoor Darts among the medals on second night of Swim England Meet

MOUNT Kelly College claimed their first gold medal of the Swim England Summer Meet on Wednesday night, while there was also a first podium placing for Dartmoor Darts.

Mount Kelly, who had picked up five medals on the opening day, topped the podium in the multi-class men’s 50m freestyle courtesy of 16-year-old Finlay Middleton.

Middleton, a category eight swimmer, clocked 29.61 seconds to claim 623 points.

His 15-year-old Mount Kelly team-mate Ben Grainger did swim the fastest time in the final with a 27.72 second swim, but as he is category 10 that only related to 586 points which ranked him fourth overall.

However, Grainger did make the podium in the MC 200m IM, where he took bronze with 2:32.13.

Dartmoor Darts’ first medal of the meet came courtesy of Emily Morgan-Hughes, who claimed bronze in the 200m breaststroke final with a time of 2:42.32.

She managed to knock nearly five seconds off the time she had swam in the heats to make the podium in Sheffield.

Plymouth Leander swimmers Victoria Adams, Batuhan Paker, Ethan Rayment, Ella Bardgett and Joseph Thompson were all finalists on the second day of the meet at Ponds Forge.
