THE third annual Chestnut Appeal Drake’s Island Swim will take place on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

The event sees swimmers set off from Firestone Bay beach and swim to Drake’s Island and along before heading back to the beach. The approximate distance of the swim is 1.5km (just short of one mile).

Organisers still have some places available for the event, which starts at 8am.

David Squires from the Chestnut Appeal said: “It’s a great swim for anyone new to an organised open water swim. We have had swimmers of all abilities and ages have ranged from 13 to 73.”

Registration for the swim is £30. The entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but swimmers are asked to try and raise at least £75 in sponsorship.
