Plymouth Diving make good start to British Elite Junior Championships

PLYMOUTH Diving enjoyed a good start to the British Elite Junior Championships, which are once again taking place at the Life Centre.

The first session of the four-day event saw Plymouth pick up four medals in the synchro events.

There was a silver medal for Victoria Vincent (pictured top) and her Dive London team-mate Maria Papworth in the 14-18 year-old girls’ three-metre synchro competition.

They were just edged out by their GB team-mates Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper in a strong field of seven pairs.

Euan McCabe picked up two medals on the opening day of competition. He won a bronze in the platform synchro with Alfie Westerman, while he also picked up the same colour medal with Zachery Anderson in the nine to 13-year-old boys’ three-metre event.

In the nine to 13-year-old girls’ three-metre synchro, Summer Radcliffe won a bronze medal with Southampton’s Tilly Brown.

Westerman and Joshua Freeman just missed out on a medal in the 14-18 year-old boys’ three-metre synchro competition. They finished fourth.

The Plymouth divers will now concentrate on their individual events, which start on Tuesday.
