PLYMOUTH swimmers Jessica Jackson, Laura Stephens and Ivo Staub all claimed medals at the BUCS Short Course Championships in Sheffield this weekend.

Marjon student Staub secured silver in the men’s 50m butterfly and also a bronze in the 50m backstroke. The Swiss international also reached the 50m freestyle final.

He just missed out on gold in the 50m butterfly. He clocked 24.11 seconds but was just beaten by 0.02 seconds by Southampton’s Cristian Rotundu.

In the 50m backstroke he was only beaten by Loughborough’s Dan Cross and Luke Greenback. His Plymouth Leander team-mate Perry Gardner was fourth in the same final.

Great Britain international Stephens claimed silver in the women’s 200m butterfly event behind her former Plymouth College team-mate Charlotte Atkinson with a time of 2:08.66.
