Plymouth athlete Tank continues her good cross country form in America

PLYMOUTH’S Poppy Tank continued her good form in America with a top-20 finish at the Pac-12 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on Friday.

Competing for Utah University, Tank finished 18th overall in a time 19:28.5 to help her team to a sixth place finish.

She was second Utah athlete behind Grayson Murphy, who came fifth in 19:03.08.

Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said: “Poppy Tank ran an absolutely terrific race. She finished in the top 20 as a sophomore, so that was awesome to see.”

Erme Valley Harriers’ Will Battershill was also back in action in America on Friday following injury.

Great Britain international Battershill had not competed since suffering an ankle injury in the warm-up for the European Under-20 Championship steeplechase final in July.

He finished 53rd in the five-mile Ivy League Heptagonal Championships in New York.  That was an improvement of 15 places on his position last year in the same race.
