STORM Plymouth’s Ross Perkins claimed victory in the annual Plymouth Coasters’ Five Miler race on Sunday morning.
In horrible conditions, Perkins finished 13 seconds ahead of Tamar Trotters’ Steve Wilsmore.
Perkins clocked 28 minutes 50 seconds, with Wilsmore finishing in 29.03 minutes.
Third athlete home in heavy rain was Chris Barker, who clocked 29.30.
Cornwall AC’s Chris Sabine was fourth in 29.41, with Erme Valley teenager Sam Yearling fifth, and first under-20, in 30.47, which was the exact same time as his club colleague Michael Miners, who was given sixth.
Plymstock Road Runners’ over-45 veteran Rachael Caroline Tarrant, who also runs for Plymouth Musketeers, was first women home in 34.06.
Second female – and another over-45 runner – was C Shortman in 37.28 minutes, with Dartmouth’s over-40 runner Rebecca Hodges third women in 38.52.
