Plymouth College’s Mitchell and Denton to compete at European qualifying event for Youth Olympics

PLYMOUTH College modern pentathletes Georgina Mitchell and Annabel Denton will compete at the European qualifying event for the Youth Olympic Games next month.

The pair automatically booked their places at the continental competition in Portugal by finishing in the top three at last weekend’s GB qualifying leg.

Mitchell took victory at Hartpury College, with Denton finishing third.

An impressive performance at Caldas de Rainha between August 10 and August 13 could secure the pair a place at next year’s Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aries.

Joining Mitchell and Denton in the GB girls’ team will be Hertfordshire’s Alex Bousfield and Surrey’s Charlotte Cole.

The boys’ team will feature Somerset’s George Case, Yorkshire’s Toby Price and Josh Hood and Nottinghamshire’s Kieran Harby.

However, before trying to book her place at the Youth Olympic Games, 16-year-old Mitchell will compete at the World Under-19 Championships in Prague this month.
