Plymouth Leander look for Arena League glory in Cardiff this weekend

PLYMOUTH Leander will be looking for glory this weekend when they compete at the National Arena League final in Cardiff.

The A final will take place on Sunday and Leander will be up against City of Milton Keynes, City of Oxford, Wycombe, Stockport Metro, Guildford City, Millfield, City of Cardiff, City of Derby and Team Ipswich.

Leander have an impressive record in the competition, winning it seven years out of eight between 2008 and 2015.

The city club, who have progressed through qualifying rounds, hope they can once again secure the country’s top team swimming honour.

They are taking a squad of 50 swimmers to the Cardiff International Pool.

Leander will be lead in Wales by new head coach Robin Armayan. He will be accompanied by head of juniors Neil Edwards.

Armayan took over from Jon Rudd in January and he is hoping he can build on the club’s incredible success in recent years.

Armayan will be joined at the end of this month by former Olympian Roberto Pavoni, who has been appointed as Leander’s assistant head coach and Plymouth College’s deputy director of swimming.
