PILGRIM Flyers youth mountain bike club enjoyed a successful end to the Soggy Bottom Race Series at Newnham Park on Sunday.
The city outfit picked up a number of prizes at the final event of the three-race series.
Rosie Andrews took victory in the juvenile female category in fast conditions. She clocked 50.19 to finish nearly three minutes ahead of Taw Velo’s Ellen Webber.
There was a one-two for the Flyers in the youth male section. Oli Allen took victory in 1:00.03, with club team-mate Alex Whitemore second in 1:05.18.
Oliver Murphy (24.43) and Dylan Gorrin (26.30) also claimed first and second for the Flyers in the under-12 boys’ race, as did Helen Barron (47.23) and Fiona Barron (51.54) in the fun female event.
There was a third-placed finish for Pilgrim rider Ben Goldsmith in the under-10 boys’ race, which was won by Taw Velo’s Max Standen.
Flyers’ Jonathan Rockey took third in the juvenile boys’ competition, with his team-mate Jack Southcott fourth. The race was won by Southfolk’s Freddy Birchill, with Complete Cycling Works’ Leon Dawes second.
Joey Williams claimed victory in the under-eight boys’ event, while Kodie Harmer won the under-10 girls’ race.
David Creber took the honours in the senior men’s category in 1:18.21, with Max Suttie second in 1:24.00.
Chris Seavell won the grand vets section in 1:24.43, with Peter Dawe taking honours in the vet male category in 1:27.30.
