PLYMOUTH College pupil Emily Pascoe created a small piece of history at the weekend by becoming the first female winner of the under-21 title at the Cornwall Shooting Championships.
It was the first time the young air pistol specialist had competed over 120 shots in two one-and-a-half hour sessions, but she impressed at the event held in St Austell.
Not only did the Year 8 pupil win the county under-21 crown, but she also finished the weekend as Cornish Open under-21 champion, junior county champion and runner-up in the Cornish Open Ladies’ Championship.
Her success followed on from finishing fourth – and first girl – in the junior category at the inaugural National Schools’ Shooting finals in Cardiff at the end of January. That event featured all the top air pistol shooters from schools and colleges in the UK.
Pascoe is now looking forward to the South West Championships in March.
