RUTA MEILUTYTE opened her year in style with a two golds and a bronze medal at the Flanders Speedo Cup in Antwerp.
The 19-year-old triumphed in her two favourite events – the 50m and 100m breaststroke – and took bronze in the 50m freestyle.
The world record holder and current European champion clocked a steady 1:07.03 minutes to take victory by nearly two seconds in the 100m breaststroke final on Saturday evening.
She then recorded a time of 30.87 seconds to take gold in the 50m breaststroke on Sunday, finishing nearly a second in front of Fanny Lecluyse.
Meilutyte showed her versatility in Belgium by claiming bronze in the 50m freestyle final with a time of 25.80. Fellow Plymouth Leander swimmer Juliette Casini reached the B final of that event where she swam 26.62 which ranked her 11th overall. Casini was 13th in the 100m freestyle in 58.45.
Meilutyte also reached the final of the 50m butterfly event, clocking 27.64 seconds to finish sixth.
