IVYBRIDGE Rugby Club will host Devon’s eagerly-awaited County Championship clash with champions Cornwall in May.

The match will take place at Cross-in-Hand on Saturday, May 13, 2017 (3pm).

It will be the first time the sides have met in a County Championship game since 2010 when Devon, then coached by now Cornwall chief Graham Dawe, won 31-17 at Camborne.

Plymouth Albion’s Brickfields ground was unavailable that day and so Devon officials have opted for Ivybridge, which has a railway station and a large car park next to the ground.

It is believed some temporary facilities will be brought in to assist with hosting the fixture, which is expected to attract a large crowd.

The annual Tamar Cup clash with Cornwall will be played at Tiverton RFC, while Devon’s other senior home game against Kent will be played at Barnstaple RFC on Saturday, May 20.

Cornwall only have one home game in 2017. That is against Hertfordshire and will be held at Camborne on Saturday, May 20.
