BEN PROUD won his third world silver medal within less than a week on Tuesday evening.

After picking up two second places at the FINA World Cup event in Beijing at the weekend, the Plymouth Leander star continued his good form at the Dubai leg of the series.

He touched second behind South Africa’s Chad Le Clos in the men’s 50m butterfly event in a time of 22.76 seconds.

Le Clos clocked 22.08 seconds in the short course race, with fellow South African Roland Schoeman third in 22.80.

Four-time Olympic butterfly medallist Le Clos had beaten Proud to gold in the same event in Beijing.

Two hours before the 50m butterfly final, Proud had finished fifth in the 100m freestyle final in a time of 48.11 seconds.

The University of St Mark and St John student will bid for another FINA World Cup medal on Wednesday when he competes in the 50m freestyle event, which is where his second silver came in Beijing.
