PLYMOUTH Leander’s international swimming star Ben Proud claimed two silver medals at the Beijing leg of the 2016 FINA World Cup Series.
Proud’s podium places came in the 50-metre butterfly and freestyle races. He also reached the final of the men’s 100m freestyle.
The 22-year-old clocked 22.77 seconds to take second in the 50m butterfly short-course final, finishing behind South African Chad Le Clos, who touched in 22.14. Japan’s Takeshi Kawamoto was third in 22.86.
Proud then took silver on Saturday in the 50m freestyle in 21.33 seconds. Russia’s Vlad Morozov won in 21.06.
In the 100m final, the University of St Mark and St John student finished fifth in 48.21.
