Breakwater Swim

Reece WorthTHE annual Chestnut Appeal Breakwater Swim takes place on Sunday in Plymouth (1pm).

The popular event had been scheduled for August but had to be postponed due to bad weather.

Last year more than 200 people took part in the swim, with Mount Kelly’s Reece Worth coming home first in a record time of 37 minutes and 37 seconds.

The event, which is always a sell-out, sees competitors taken out on a boat to the Plymouth’s breakwater and then they swim the 2.2 miles back to Tinside Beach.

Money raised by swimmers, who travel from around the country to take part, goes towards The Chestnut Appeal.

The first swimmer is expected to reach shore on Sunday at around 1.40pm.
