Plymouth’s Tank enjoys success in her first collegiate race for Utah

CITY of Plymouth athlete Poppy Tank made a winning debut for Utah University in America.

Tank took first place in the Nevada Chase Race at Sierra Sage Golf Course in Reno.

The format of the event saw runners from Nevada and Utah set off at different start times, with those differences later taken off to give the final results.

Tank came home in a time of 22:06.01 for the 6k course.

Utah’s head coach Kyle Kepier said: “The overall winner was Poppy Tank in her first collegiate race in 22:06 for 6000 meters, which I thought was a very good time considering the nature of the meet.”

Utah had used the event to have a look at some of their newcomers, who had not featured in their team at the Utah State Open earlier in the month.
