CITY of Plymouth Athletic Club youngster Noah Jones smashed his pole vault personal best this week at the Exeter Open Meet.
The 11-year-old jumped an impressive 2.40 metres to move up to fifth in the UK under-13 rankings.
Jones’ previous best was 2.30m, which he had set earlier this season at the Duchy Miners Open at Carn Brea.
The youngster still has another year left at under-13 level and so will be hoping to improve even further over the winter season.
Jones has been travelling down to Cornwall to train with specialist pole vault coaches, but his dad, Howard, is taking British Athletics courses so that he will be able to offer coaching in Plymouth.
