Wilsmore sets new 1,500m PB at Flanders Cup in Belgium

CITY athlete Mike Wilsmore set a new 1,500m personal best at the Flanders Cup in Belgium on Saturday.

The Tamar Trotter, who also runs for Bristol & West, clocked 3:43.45 in Huizingen, which was a second quicker than his previous PB set at Lee Valley in June.

The 31-year-old finished fifth in a strong international field. Germany’s Marcel Fehr won the race in 3:41.36, with Hungary’s Tomas Kazi (3:41.44) second and Morocco’s Rabii Doukkana third (3:42.52).

Wilsmore still reckons he can go quicker, which is why he is hoping to spend part of this coming winter training in Kenya at attitude and with world-class athletes.
