PLYMOUTH Leander’s Olympic champion Ruta Meilutyte claimed her second gold medal of the Sette Colli Trophy Meet in Rome on Saturday night.
Meilutyte had claimed victory in the 100m breaststroke event on Friday evening and she followed that up with success in the 50m competition.
The 19-year-old Plymouth College pupil clocked 30.29 seconds for the one length race to comfortably win.
Italy’s Arianna Castiglioni took silver in 31.04 seconds, with Sweden’s Jennie Johansson third with 31.09.
The Rome international meet continues on Sunday with Ben Proud, who won the men’s 50m freestyle title on Friday, entered in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle events.
