City of Plymouth’s Tank impresses at second Armada Summer 5k Series run

CITY of Plymouth teenager Poppy Tank produced an impressive run at May’s Armada Summer 5k Series race.

The 18-year-old finished third overall at Saltram Park on Wednesday evening, finishing in a time of 17 minutes and 44 seconds.

The only two runners to beat her were Plymouth Harriers’ experienced pair of Tom Humphrey and Chris Aldridge.

Humphrey won in 17.18, with Aldridge, who had been first home in April’s run, finishing second in 17.27.

For the second month running, Plymouth Harriers were again dominant, with five of their athletes filling the top seven places.

Tamar Trotters’ Owen Pearce was fourth in 17.55, with Harriers’ Alex Peyton-Jones (18.02), John Porter (18.09) and John Cooper (18.14) finishing fifth, sixth and seventh.

Their club team-mate Ami Yetton was second women home in 20.12, with Erme Valley’s Emma Lake third in 20.16.
